3 Morning Rituals Experts Swear by
We all know that our morning routines will set the tone for our day - but what are the morning rituals will actually make a difference?
01.
skincare
wash your face
Washing your face in the morning is essential for glowing skin. It allows you to rinse off heavier night creams to prevent congestion while also applying a barrier to protect your skin as you move into your day. “Your morning cleanse should be light, hydrating and balancing. A good cleanser at this time of day is an essential ‘prep’ step, to get your skin in a good place. Your skin has a vital job, acting as a ‘shield’ against the environment,” Dr Anita Sturnham MD, the founder of skincare brand Decree tells us.
try cold therapy
Cold therapy is the name for using chilled tools or skincare to reap the benefits of lower temperatures. What are those benefits? Reduced redness and pore size, a brighter complexion, a firmer appearance and less puffiness. Benefiting from the chill is as easy as chilling your face cream, storing your jade roller in a beauty fridge between uses, or gentle massagin the face with ice globes. “Chilling your beauty routine is a simple step that results in an instant glow thanks to limited vasodilatation.” says esthetician Nicole LaBonte, “Plus, it’s easy for even the busiest women to add to their morning routines”.
02.
wellness
fresh lemon water
Lemon water is a simple way to help your body detox and support your metabolism. It is good for the skin because of its high content of antioxidants that “prevent damage from free radicals,” says nutritionist Laura Parada, director of Slow Life House. It provides hydration for the body and, especially first thing in the morning on an empty stomach, is an effective way to stimulate your metabolism
03.
mindset
gratitude
Practicing gratitude in the morning has several benefits. It improves mental health, reduces stress, and increases overall well-being. It can also positively impact your relationships, as it helps you appreciate the people and moments in your life. After 10 weeks, those who wrote about gratitude were more optimistic and felt better about their lives. Surprisingly, they also exercised more and had fewer visits to physicians than those who focused on sources of aggravation- found Dr. Robert A. Emmons of the University of California, Davis, and Dr. Michael E. McCullough of the University of Miami in a recent study.
Give your body love and appreciation.
Scan your body head to toe & appreciate everything it does to keep you alive. Need help? From home, try warm ups like saying “hello”, touching, appreciating, & loving our forgotten hard working organs (adrenals, kidneys, liver). Simply speaking the words can have a massive impact on our health says Channa Richardson, a cleansing and wellness coach.
